The Second Decarbonisation Summit is returning in this December and being organised by the Indian Association of Air Pollution Control (IAAPC).The first one was organised in June 2022 which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari ji who had emphasized on maintaining equilibrium between ecology, environment and development. I urge that let us join the Summit as the IAAPC propels a vision for a decarbonised future, to inspire change, initiate action, and amplify a range of vital voices in the race to net zero.
Avoiding the worst impacts of climate change will require aggressive action to decarbonize and reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that are causing warming of this planet. A number of expert reports have significantly assessed the latest in climate science, technology options, and socioeconomic dimensions related to the goal of reaching net-zero emissions by several nationalities by 2050, however India is committed to the year 2070. Agencies and businesses are working aggressively to achieve the timeline.
Industrial Decarbonization currently accounts for one-third of all global domestic GHG emissions which is a critical component to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Delivering a sustainable energy system for the future will require collaboration and action from across the energy, business, and government ecosystems. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an immediate industrial decarbonization including advancement in GHG reduction by transitioning to low carbon or zero carbon energy system.
The mitigation requires discovering and implementing solutions (technical, social, and economic) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change. This needs an interdisciplinary strategy that draws on the expertise and abilities among several faculties, as well as collaboration with industry and government. This multi-stakeholder approach is essential for achieving and sustaining transformation at scale.
The Summit will discuss a wide range of subjects, including, decarbonization, managing climate change, policy issues for Energy Transition / Low carbon Economy and opportunities and challenges in Climate Finance, International Climate Cooperation , CCUS and sustainability etc. The Summit brings together top industry players to exchange management strategy, new tools, and solutions for navigating the present environment\'s plethora of difficulties and accelerating the essential evolution to net zero.
At the end, I would like to say that we need a holistic approach, collaboration and joint action to advance our agenda and deliver a truly decarbonized industry coupled with bringing an alignment between the industry, policy and financial institutions, and lead the transformational shift.
The “Industrial Decarbonization – Road to Net Zero” will provide a forum for discussions on recent developments in the field of climate change and decarbonization since Climate crisis is being faced by the humanity at this very moment and not in future therefore solution mitigation is needed now not in the future.
